story of october (+NANOWRIMO)

7:59:00 PM

October has been full. of discovering new music that hits your soul hard, of reading phenomenal novels, of a road-trip adventure with some of my favorite people to Comic-Con and family visits. of learning, learning, learning, to relish challenge, change, sanctification. it hasn't been easy. i wanted to 'feel autumn' more. on the way home from my trip, i didn't want to return to 'real life.' but this is all real life. and it's mine, and it is glorious.

here is me at Comic-Con!!

books:

seriously some of the best books I've read in a while.
Scorpio Races, wooww that author is talented. the haunting, raw BEAUTY of that novel...sheesh.
Miss Peregrine - WWII, exploring old houses, quirky magical abilities, what more could I love?
Shadow and Bone - mythological-ish magic and RUSSIA!
still in Magnus Chase - being that I love everything Riordan, of course I love this. it is so hilarious!

soo tomorrow is November 1st and i'm not exactly sure what i'm doing because i'm very unprepared but FIFTY THOUSAND WORDS HERE I COME.
i've done it before, i can do it again, right?
(college homework whispers *what are you thinking?*)
NOPE. i'm doing it.
i dreamt of my MC guy recently and woke up physically feeling how much i love that dude. and it made me realize - one of the reasons i'm writing this novel is because i love my characters so much. they don't deserve me beating myself down about my writing, doubting myself, comparing myself... but they are okay with a crappy first draft.
no one else can write this but me,
and to all you brave souls out there who are attempting to conquer those 50k words as well,
the same goes for you.

  1. Not attempting the 50k words (though maybe next time), but I wish you good luck nonetheless!

  2. Love the picture of you at comic con! That looks like so much fun. It sounds like your Autumn has been drenched in the lovely. Best of luck with the 50k! My sister is doing nano this year... I've never attempted it, but I soo admire you brave souls who break out the pens, paper, and laptops in November and get those words down. I love what you said about writing, and how only YOU can tell the story that's inside of you, no one else can give those characters life; they are yours and yours alone. Beautifully put.
